The Art of the Offer: How to Negotiate Prices for the Best Deals
Smart shoppers know the sticker price is often just the starting point. At Emporium Depot you can make an offer on almost anything — here's how to do it well and actually get a yes.
Why "Make an Offer" works
Emporium Depot is an independent store, not a faceless marketplace. When you send an offer, a real person reviews it. That means a thoughtful, fair offer has a real chance of being accepted, countered, or unlocking a private deal — no coupon code hunting needed.
How to send an offer
- Open any product page in the app.
- Tap Make an Offer next to Add to Cart.
- Enter your price and an optional short message (e.g. "Bundling two — would $X work?").
- Submit. You'll get a notification when the store responds, usually within a day.
What makes a good offer
- Stay within 10–20% of list price. Lowball offers (50%+ off) almost always get declined or ignored.
- Bundle items. Offers covering 2–3 products you like usually get better discounts than a single-item ask.
- Like first, offer second. When you heart an item, the store sometimes sends private deals to likers — sit tight before sending an offer.
- Be polite and specific. A one-line note ("Saving for my kid's birthday") goes a long way.
- Don't over-negotiate. If you get a counter, accept or send one polite counter-back — endless back-and-forth tends to kill the deal.
How "Likes" turn into discounts
When you tap the heart on a product, the store sees you're interested. Periodically, the owner sends offer-only discount codes to people who've liked specific items. Check the Offers tab to see anything waiting for you.
If your offer is accepted
Accepted offers come back with a one-time discount code tied to the product. Tap Copy, head to the product, add it to your cart, and paste the code at checkout. Codes expire — usually within 48 hours — so don't sit on them.
